07/04/2009 New evidence from satellite observations shows a continuation in the decade-long trend of shrinking Arctic sea-ice cover and a thinning ice cap. The latest data comes from NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center. According to scientists tracking Arctic sea-ice cover from space, the maximum extent of ice this winter was the fifth lowest on record.
