 07/04/2009  New evidence from satellite observations shows a continuation in the decade-long trend of shrinking Arctic sea-ice cover and a thinning ice cap. The latest data comes from NASA and the National Snow and Ice Data Center. According to scientists tracking Arctic sea-ice cover from space, the maximum extent of ice this winter was the fifth lowest on record. The six lowest maximums since satellite monitoring began in 1979 have all occurred in the past six years (2004-2009).  [όλο το άρθρο εδώ]
